    Type: Wreck

After 3 years of searching, in September of 2008, team of divers from our dive center discovered aircraft wreck near town of Canj.
Wreck lies at depth of 54m, on the sandy bottom. Both wings are still attached to the haul as well as 2 engines. Tail section of the craft was ripped of most likely by the impact.

Initially, we expected to confirm that this was a wreck of the Italian military plain Savoy, that according to records and eyewitness accounts, crashed in this area during 2nd WW. Our research, however, confirmed that in fact, it was not Savoy. With the help of the friends from Belgrade Aviation Museum, we managed to identify an object found in the wreckage as a bomb release, from the 2nd WW German aircraft. Further analysis indentified this aircraft to be Junkers 88 bomber. There is no record whatsoever, about this aircraft being downed in this area. In any case, we were very happy to have new addition to our dive location portfolio. Due to its depth, this location is available for tech and deep divers only.
